Polycule - A network of interconnected relationships.

Polyfidelity / Closed Polycule - A poly relationship that is exclusive between all members involved. (Similar to a monogamous relationship, but with more than two people.)

Open Polycule - A poly relationship that is not exclusive and allows all members to search for additional partners or enter new relationships.

Hierarchical Relationship - A poly relationship where certain partnerships are considered above others and/or are given more powers in setting rules. Usually used when an existing monogamous partnership decides to become polyamorous and is thus seen as the 'main' relationship.

Non-Hierarchical Relationship - A poly relationship where all partnerships are considered equal in autonomy. All members are included in discussing/changing rules and limits prioritizing when possible.

Kitchen Table Polyamory (KTP) - A poly relationship where the integration of multiple romantic relationships into one life or group is prioritized. Close relationships between all partners is preferred or required.

Dyad - A relationship between two people. Used (in the case of polyamory) to refer to two-person partnerships within a poly network.

Triad / Throuple - A three-person relationship where all members are romantically involved with one another.

Quad - A four-person relationship where all members are romantically involved with one another.

N (or Z) - A four-person polycule where A & B are romantically involved, B & C are romantically involved, and C & D are romantically involved, but there are no triads within that network.

V (or vee) - a poly relationship where there are two 'ends' who are not romantically involved with one another, but share a single partner. Consists of two dyads. (A and B & B and C)

Parallel Polyamory - A poly relationship where each partnership exists separately from one another that doesn't intend on intertwining the relationship network.

Metamour - The partner of one's partner. Often abbreviated as 'meta.'

Telemour - The partner of a metamour who is not your shared partner.

Paramour - An alternate term for one's partner/love.

Other Significant Other (OSO) - A significant other that isn't the main/primary partner. Typically used by people who are new to polyamory.

Hinge - The shared partner between two people.

Primary Relationship/Partner - the main or prioritzed relationship/parter within a hierarchal relationship. Some may have multiple primary partners.

secondary relationship/partner - partners or relationships that exist beyond the primary ones in a hierarchical relationship.
